Sun & Moon Transits to your Birth Chart

The Sun and Moon in astrology are known as the luminaries. They are the guiding lights in your daily life.

It is best to use the transits of the Sun and Moon to guide daily activities such as work, romance, family, budgeting, spending, exercise, nutrition, etc. These might not be life-changing transits like Saturn or the slower moving planets, but they are still important for how you act and feel each day.

Moon transits

The Moon spends 1-2 days in a sign, therefore highlighting a specific house in your birth chart. Use the house location of the transiting Moon in your chart to provide insight into your emotional state and mood for the day.

For example, let’s say it is Tuesday and the Moon is currently transiting in the sign of Cancer and Cancer is the sign of your 6th house. You notice on this day that you are focused on self-care and daily routines to improve work or wellness. Then on Wednesday the Moon shifts into Leo and into your 7th house. Now, you are focused on your relationships and feel a strong desire to connect with others.

Each month the Moon will hit every house in your birth chart and you can start to see a cycle form. It is helpful to track this monthly moon cycle and see how your mood fluctuates alongside it.

Sun transits

The Sun spends about 4 weeks in a sign, therefore highlighting a specific area in your life. Use the house location of the transiting Sun in your chart to give you an idea of where to best put forth your energy.

For example, let’s say the Sun is currently transiting in Capricorn and Capricorn is the sign of your 10th house. The weeks that the Sun is in Capricorn would be a good time to focus your energy into your career. Go for that interview, set up a public speaking opportunity, or launch a new service. Now would be the time to do so because in a couple months the Sun will shift into your 12th house and you will want to rest and recharge.

The Sun will hit each house of your birth chart every year, therefore creating a personal yearly solar cycle. It is helpful to know when and where to focus your energy and make the most of the Sun’s influence.
