New Moon in Cancer Ritual

Cancer is the cardinal water sign ruled by the Moon, therefore any lunation in this sign has a powerful impact on your body and emotions.  The sign of Cancer represents the soft and nurturing presence within you. It is the emotional foundation from which you live and respond to the world around you.

Much of your cancer self is based on the family system or dynamic you experienced as a child. Were you conditioned to express your vulnerability through emotions or told to repress them? Were you cared for in a way that supported your inner child or were you forced to “grow up” too quickly?

These are conditions set upon you as part of the human existence. Many of you are releasing outdated and limiting beliefs passed on from your childhood and remembering the beautiful and loving soul you are.

That is what this ritual is all about, coming home to the divine I AM soulful presence and inner child within you. Emerging and invoking a new cycle in which loving and nurturing yourself is a daily practice.

What you need:

  • Plant spirit medicine of your choice to cleanse yourself and your space. I really love piñon pine and sweetgrass for this

  • Fresh flowers

  • Crystals of your choice, I love moonstone, clear quartz, and labradorite for this

  • A sentimental object or photo from your childhood

  • Pen and paper

Prepare your space and invite spirit to guide you

  1. Find the space in your home that feels right to build your NM in cancer altar and conduct your ritual.

  2. Sink into your heart and feel the divine loving presence within and around you. Place your hand on your heart and visualize the inner child that resides there. Send it love and say hello. Thank your inner child for showing up today. Breathe in and out slowly a few times and focus on the feelings of peace, love, and joy. Allow those to fill your heart.

  3. Next, say hello to your spirit guides and invite them into the space. Thank then for their presence and support as you begin your ritual. Ask that they hold loving and compassionate space for this ritual.

The ritual:

  1. Begin by smudging yourself and your space with the plant spirit you have chosen. Allow the smoke to wash away any negative energy and clear your body and space for this ritual.

  2. Deeply connect and remember the loving and soulful presence that lives within you. Start by saying the following mantra “ I AM love, I AM loving, I AM loveable, I AM love”. Notice what arises as your repeat this mantra over and over again for the next few minutes.

  3. Emotions may begin to arise and allow yourself to feel everything that comes up and give it love. If it needs releasing, do so by giving it back to mother earth and your spirit guides.

  4. Write down the “ I AM love, I AM loving, I AM loveable, I AM love” on your piece of paper and place it in the middle of your altar space.

  5. Next, mindfully arrange the fresh flowers and crystals around that piece of paper. A circle or star configuration is best if you can.

  6. Now, set your intention for this New Moon in Cancer. Here are some prompts to consider: How can you live more from this vulnerable heart space in your daily life? Where in your life can you bring in more nourishment? Where and how do you need to soften? How can you make peace with the past in order to live fully present? What can you do to nurture yourself more? Write them down.

  7. Place your intentions on top of your mantra piece of paper and place your sentimental object on top. Say out loud: “I AM remembering just how beautiful and loving I AM. I AM re-writing my childhood story/family dynamics/etc. to be more aligned with my soulful presence, inner peace, and divine self. I AM moving forward more aligned with my heart as I chose to live life from a compassionate and loving space. I AM love, I AM loving, I AM loveable, I AM love. So it is.”

  8. Close your ritual by lighting your plant spirit and smudging yourself again, this time creating a protective space to open your heart. Imagine a bright pink light surrounding you. Bask in this energy for a few moments.

  9. Say thank you to your spirit guides and your inner self for showing up today.

  10. Leave your altar up until the next New Moon in about 30 days.

Best time to do this ritual would be at or after 8:52pm on 6/28/22 (through the 30th). Feel free to add or edit this ritual as it resonates with you.
