Mars Transits to Your Birth Chart

Mars is the planet of taking direct action. It is the cosmic force that motivates and drives you. The sign and house placement of your natal Mars can give insight into the best way to expend your energy.

Like the 1st Law of Thermodynamics, energy is neither created nor destroyed it must be transferred. If Mars energy is not transferred into some action it can build up and create an explosion, usually one that is a bit aggressive.

For example, I have my natal Mars in Sagittarius in my 11th house. It is also conjunct my Moon is Sagittarius. My passion is connecting with my community and helping others gain a deeper understanding of life. If I do not have this in my life, my Mars will overheat and an eruption will occur. I also see this with my love of group exercise classes. I need those or else my emotional well-being suffers.

Let’s talk about Mars transits and how they add fuel to the fire.

Mars takes about 23 months to orbit around the Sun, spending an average of 2 months in each zodiac sign during this time. Mars retrogrades less than any other planet but when it does, it has an extra-long stay in a certain sign/house of your birth chart.

A Mars transits to a certain house of your birth chart works as a trigger point. You will feel a greater energy or assertiveness in the area of life represented by the house Mars is transiting. That feeling of you must take action or else. Mars does bring with it the courage to face any fears associated with the action you are called to make.
