In astrology, the Moon represents your emotional personality. It is how you respond emotionality based on past experiences and how you internalize, reflect, and fluctuate in moods. The Moon side of your personality is typically hidden unlike your Sun (what most call their zodiac sign) and can be a major source of anxiety and depression when suppressed. Learning to embrace your emotional body and transform that which surfaces is a major source of healing. The Moon orbits the Earth in about 28 days. This orbit encompasses multiple phases which we call the Lunar Cycle. During this cycle, there is a rebirthing of the Moon along the wheel of life (zodiac wheel). The Moon spends about 2 days in each sign/house of your birth chart bringing awareness of what needs to be healed and transformed. Just as the Moon goes through a rebirth, so do you. Below you will find a detailed description of the lunar cycle and how to best utilize the energy of each phase. New Moon: This is a time of new beginnings. As the Moon begins to move away (waxing) from the Sun there is an opportunity to start a rebirth of an idea, an emotional response, a habit, etc.
Waxing Crescent: During this phase, you are reassessing your values and working to release your emotional insecurities. You are doing that deep inner work and building the courage and trust within yourself.
First Quarter: Emotions begin to stir as input from others or your outside environment begin to react to your rebirth/new beginning. This is a time of deep intuitive knowing that you are on the right path. During this phase, stay strong in your conviction and continue to follow your intuitive guidance.
Waxing Gibbous: This is a time of adjustment and analysis. There is a deep desire to grow and achieve during this time coupled with the ability to see your experiences as guiding factors to your ultimate goal. You are organizing your emotions and developing a plan.
Full Moon: During the Full Moon, a veil is lifted and your emotional body is illuminated. This creates some very intense energy and insight as to how far you have come and what is still in need of releasing in order to achieve what was set forth during the New Moon.
Waning Gibbous: This is a time of clarity and change as all of the previous elements come together and you are given a clear view of what you have learned and what actions are still needed. Sharing with others and seeking higher guidance is favored during this phase so that you may emerge from this transformation successfully.
Last/Third Quarter Moon: This is a time of reorientation. You are given the opportunity to recognize how far you have come in various areas of your life and take responsibility for what is yet to be completed. If you find your focus has shifted, reorient your actions so that you may finish what you started.
Waning Crescent/Balsamic Phase: During this phase, you are called to pull inward and reconnect with your purpose and strengths. Now is NOT the time to initiate anything new. Reflect on the bigger picture and connect deeper to your values and goals. This is the time for resting and gaining inner strength to prepare for a new cycle.
