The month of October will be heavily focused on our relationships to people and possessions. That is because Venus the planet of love, relationships, money, and personal values will go retrograde through the signs of Scorpio and Libra.
Venus Retrograde 10/5/18 to 11/15/18: Venus goes retrograde approximately every 18 months and will last for about 40 days. The purpose of this transit is to review and reconnect with what we love and value.
Every eight years, Venus returns to the same area in your birth chart asking you to reevaluate certain aspects in your life. This retrograde cycle correlates back to that which occurred in October/November of 2010. Think back to that time, does anything stand out? Are your life situations (both internal and external) the same or have things changed?
This 2018 Venus retrograde cycle begins at 10° Scorpio (death, rebirth, and transformation) and ends at 25° Libra (passion, beauty, and relationships). Profound transformation of our relationships, values, and finances are key themes during most of October and November.
Look to your birth chart (click here to get a free birth chart) and find where these degrees are represented in your chart. Take note of the houses and planets affected by this transit. These will provide keys to the transformation that will occur.
Venus will be intersecting three major transpersonal (outer) planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, along its retrograde path. This will be felt by MANY as those within the age range of 30-65 have one of these planets in 25° Libra to 10° Scorpio.
For those of you age 30 to 37, Venus will cross Pluto along its path. This means you will have Venus retrograde conjunct Pluto. During this transit, you will seek unusual and intense love experiences. You desire deep love and will stop at nothing to get it. Because of this, there is a strong tendency for past karmic patterns to arise in your current relationships or in the connections you make with others. Use this transit to bring an awareness to your desire for love and how your manage your power within relationships. Depending upon which house(s) this transit falls within your birth chart, you may also experience this transit in relation to money and material possessions.
For those of you age 41-45, Venus will cross Uranus along its path. This means you will have Venus retrograde conjunct Uranus. During this transit, you will seek excitement and new experiences through love and creativity. Something is going to change in your life and it will be unexpected. It may be a change of heart in a current relationship or a change in how you make or spend money. Tapping into your heart and creativity is heightened during this time. Take advantage of this. Whatever happens, know that this change is meant to help you along your path.
For those of you age 56-65, Venus will cross Neptune along its path. This means you will have Venus retrograde conjunct Neptune. During this transit, you may discover the spiritual side of love. People you meet or relationships that you are currently in will be felt on the soul level. You may see beauty and relationships in a different light. If you are a creative or artist, you may be inspired by your surroundings. Selfless love will be emphasized, but so may be unrealistic expectations. Use this transit to get soulful about what and who you connect with.
For those of you outside of these age ranges, you don’t have a transpersonal planet (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) on the Venus retrograde path. However, you may have other personal planets (Moon, Sun, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn), your ascendant (rising sign) or a lunar node in Libra or Scorpio. Look to your birth chart and check whether you have any planet(s) in 25-29 degrees of Libra or 0-10 degrees of Scorpio.

The Wheel of Life and the 12 Houses
The wheel of the zodiac is a cycle of experience. The 12 houses of the wheel represent different areas of your life as represented in your birth chart.
The zodiac wheel starts with your Ascendant (Rising) as the sign that was on the Eastern Horizon of your birth and creates the cusp of your 1st House. This is the base from which the remaining houses derive significance in your life. This house, along with the sign on the cusp (Rising sign), infuses you with the energy to cope with situations you face as you fulfill your purpose. Your Rising sign represents how you dawn on people.
1st House: The house of self. This includes self-awareness, the physical body, personality, appearance, personal views on life, self-identity, self-image, early environment, and beginnings; how we initiate, how we're impulsive. Any planets in this house will greatly influence your personality and how others perceive you.
2nd House: Refers to your own money and possessions, what you value, your hidden talents, sense of self-worth, self-esteem (how you value yourself, instead of describing your personality as in the 1st house). Possessions include anything a person owns or finds value in. The 2nd house specifies how you gain and spend your own money (as opposed to other's money in the 8th house), your attitude towards wealth and material possessions, and your potential for accumulating it/them. This is also the house of nourishing your physical body through food, connection to nature, and plant medicines.
3rd House: The house of communication, which by extension includes one's immediate environment: siblings, neighbors, short journeys, and all forms of transportation. The 3rd house also includes the intellect, the lower mind (details and small bits of information as opposed to the higher mind in 9th house), thinking patterns, and early education (before college). Communication includes messages, deliveries, phone calls, visits, reading and writing.
4th House: This house refers to the home and everything associated with it (both the childhood home & the current home): family, land, personal foundations (inner emotional security), your roots. It is a strong indicator of your parental influence in life, especially your mother. Any planets in the 4th house affect your home life, your emotions, your subconscious, and possibly your relationship with your parents.
5th House: This house refers to children, creativity, and the pursuit of pleasure. This includes personal interests, love affairs, sports, hobbies, risk-taking, creative self-expression, love given, etc. The 5th house is all about you being yourself and enjoying it.
6th House: This house refers to daily work, service, diet, health and physical illness, physical ability to work, employees. This includes volunteer labor, civil service work, caretaking, and mundane daily tasks. The 6th house really involves the quality of your work, the quality of the jobs you perform, as opposed to an actual career (career is represented by the 10th house). Daily mundane tasks include personal hygiene and our method of responding to everyday crises.
7th House: The seventh house is sometimes referred to as the house of marriage, but it encompasses all one-to-one relationships: marriage, business partnerships, contracts, and cooperative relationships. The 7th house includes the way you balance yourself with others. Planets in this house will influence your manner of relating. They also give clues to issues that arise in your relationships.
8th House: This house governs death, regeneration, taxes, inheritances, wills & legacies, sex (the actual act of sex), joint resources, your partner’s money and possessions, spouse's money, bankruptcy, losses, personal sacrifices, alimony, clairvoyance.
This house is a major player in transformation and healing. But transformation and healing require some type of “death” or loss. This house rules those processes and things by which we transform and become healed and more powerful in our truth.
9th House: This house refers to philosophy, religion, law, learning, higher education (as opposed to early education by the 3rd House), ethics, morals, long journeys, travel, foreign countries and interests, spiritual urges, visions, higher mind, ideas, understanding and wisdom, books, publishing, ceremonies, and rituals. This is the house of big thoughts and big ideas.
The 9th house includes experiences that we encounter when we search for the meaning of things. Whatever expands your field of activity or the scope of your mind – long journeys, contact with other cultures, great visions, and even esoteric experiences.
10th House: This house is the house of status, honor, community power, prestige, reputation, and professional career. In our society, this includes financial success, but only as it relates to community power and prestige. It's not about gaining "material stuff" as it is in the 2nd house. The 10th house wants success for the sake of honor and social status.
This house includes social foundations (as opposed to personal home foundations in the 4th), recognition, personal achievements, social responsibilities, sense of duty, authority figures, politicians. This house encompasses the most public areas of one's life, and the career that you grow into, as opposed to daily work and odd jobs ruled by the 6th House.
As with the other angular houses, any planets in this house are very important. Planets in the 10th house, the sign on the cusp of the 10th house, and its ruling planet will greatly influence your career and your general reputation in public.
11th House: This house is the house of community, large groups, and friends. It refers to memberships, hopes, goals, ambitions, wishes, social groups, associations, humanitarian interests. It also refers to self-realization, liberty, legislation and regulation.
12th House: This house refers to the subconscious, the hidden self that exists apart from our physical everyday reality. This includes the unconscious mind, subconscious memory, subconscious habit patterns from the past, mental illness, karmic debts, self-deception, escapism, spiritual realization, limitations, frustration, and ultimately our self-undoing.
The 12th house also refers to the collective unconscious of all humanity.

Ah, September. The air begins to cool and Mother Nature gradually displays her array of colors to celebrate the transition into the Fall season. The season of Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius. The season of finding balance within in order to transform and prepare for the darkness of Winter.
The energy of September will be a welcome change from the last few months as more planets are waking up from their slumber of retrograde. This month we have Saturn and Pluto stationing direct in the sign of Capricorn. Look to your birth chart to locate the house that contains Capricorn to show you what area of your life will start to see more responsibility (Saturn) and powerful transformation (Pluto).
The energy of Venus will be strong this month as it enters the sign of Scorpio and prepares for it’s retrograde starting in the beginning of October. Venus in Scorpio will bring a desire to dig deep into what you value. You will wish to align yourself with things and people that bring you a love that exceeds the superficial, with a hint of taboo.
On the same day as Venus enters Scorpio, we will have a New Moon in the sign of Virgo. This New Moon will be a jumpstart for your well-being. It will have you redesigning your daily routines with a focus on your physical health. The overindulgences of the Summer are calling to be detoxed from the body in order to enter the Fall season with a clear mind, body, and spirit.
The transition into the Fall season begins during the Fall Equinox on September 22nd. This is when the Sun enters Libra and the hours of light are equal to dark. There is a balance in nature which is calling for a balance within ourselves. It marks the beginning of much healing that is to be done in the next three months so that we are ready for the transition into darkness (Winter). What is out of balance in your life? Find that and transform it so that come Winter you have everything you need to thrive.
After we reach the turning point of the Fall Equinox, we are greeted with a Full Moon in Aries. This Full Moon brings an initiating energy with it. An energy that allows us to see what changes we need to make in order to heal and grow. Open your eyes to what you seek from yourself and others. Is it balanced or do you rely heavily on others and not enough on your own strength?
As you can see, September is all about making small changes that will ultimately result in major transformations. If you do the work. Astrology only brings awareness to the energy around you, it is your free will that decides how you are going to use it. Enjoy your PSL’s (Pumpkin Spice Lattes), but do so in moderation and along with physical activity. Get outside and take in the crisp air of change.
