Thursday "Jupiter Day"
Thursday is a day for positive growth as it is ruled by the planet Jupiter. This is a day of expansion and opening to the abundance of the Universe. This is the perfect day to cultivate gratitude for where you have been in order to open up to the good fortune that awaits.
Jupiter is considered the planet of prosperity and brings with it the energy to draw in success in any endeavor you set your intention. Focus this day on your personal growth and desires. Expand you knowledge, resources, and network in order to achieve these.
Your Thursday yoga sequence should focus on twists in order to physically unleash the joy in your life.
Half Lord of the Fishes Pose (Ardha Matsyendrasana)
Revolved Downward Facing Dog (Parivrtta Adho Mukha Shvanasana)
Revolved Triangle Pose (Parivrtta Trikonasana)
Half Moon Pose (Ardha Chandrasana)
Wednesday "Mercury’s Day"
Wednesday aka hump day, is a day for communication and expression as it is ruled by the planet Mercury. This is a day to schedule important meetings, presentations, and networking events as you will have support from the energy of Mercury.
This is also a day to express your truth. Mercury rules our conscious mind, so this would be a good day to read a book you are drawn to or journal your thoughts.
Your Wednesday yoga sequence should focus on your throat chakra region to strengthen your communications and to ensure your words come from your heart and not your ego.
Striking Cobra (Shashank Bhujangasana)
Fish Pose (Matsyendrasana)
Plow Pose (Halasana)
Many of us keep holding onto thoughts or emotions from our past experiences that have now become so deeply rooted into our everyday that we begin to find comfort in the pain or suffering they cause us. It is like we are addicted to relating ourselves to those experiences and letting them define who we are. This creates a cyclic pattern of triggers and emotional pain that can only be broken with releasing the experience, thoughts, and emotions. Not medicating, not distracting yourself, and not rely on others to do the work for you.
It is up to you to commit to yourself that YOUR ARE DONE! That you no longer allow these to have a hold on your life. That you are READY AND WILLING TO RELEASE. The more you release, the higher you rise and the lighter you feel. That is TRANSFORMATION.
Happy new moon time! Here is a great ritual to help release all that no longer serves you and may be holding you back from achieving what you desire. http://foreverconscious.com/intuitive-astrology-september-equinox-2017
Happy releasing :)
Tuesday "Mars Day"
Tuesday is a day of passionate energy as it is ruled by the planet Mars. You set the emotional tone on Monday, now is the time to put things into action. If you have been feeling stuck or lacking the energy to manifest your goals, this is the day to harness the energy of Mars and make it happen.
This is also a day to contemplate what your passions are? Mars helps you look past the fears and ego based insecurities that keep you from believing in yourself to accomplish what you desire. Set your intention to build the courage to go after what you want and then take the action to make things happen. Abundance is out there, all you have to do is step outside of fear and into life!
Your Tuesday yoga sequence should focus on building strength in your core/solar plexus region to help you find the courage to take action towards your goals.
Half Boat Pose (Ardha Navasana)/Full Boat Pose (Paripurna Navasana)
Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I)
Humble Warrior Pose
Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II)
Monday "Moon Day"
Monday sets the emotional tone of the week as the Moon rules our emotional body. Monday asks us to get clear about our emotions and recognize what emotional patterns influence our actions. Our emotions manifest themselves through our being and set the tone for our daily lives.
If you are feeling the Monday blues, take the time to reflect on the emotional energy you are struggling to deal with and release those energies with certain yoga poses.
Your Monday/Moon Day yoga sequence should focus on hip-opening and forward-bending postures to release emotional baggage and create fluidity in your pelvic region/sacral chakra.
Low Lunge (Anjaneyasana)
Goddess Pose (Utkata Konasana)
Wide-Legged Standing Forward Bend (Prasarita Padottanasana)
Pigeon Pose (Eka Pada Rajakapotasana)
Bound Angle Pose (Buddha Konasana)
The first thing that came to mind when I started writing this post is, remember those day of the week underwear? What if we could have a guideline for what yoga poses to "wear" each day!
Well, look no further than the actual name of the day itself. In ancient times, each day of the week was named after a planet and the energies of the planets were ritualized for specific intentions.
Setting intentions based on planetary energies allows for us to harness the potential for growth and transformation. Yoga is a wonderful vehicle to capture the energetic influence of each day as it is an active form of meditation. When setting your intention in line with the energy of the day, you can truly experience a deeply moving and energizing practice.
This week I will be posting what each day energetically represents and the yoga poses that are best to practice on those days. I encourage you to make a ritual out of your daily yoga practice by setting your intentions before you begin and then holding those intentions throughout your practice.
Namaste everyone :)
