It has been 150 years since we have had such a rare and powerful Full Moon. Why is it so special? Let me define this Full Moon/SuperMoon/Blue Moon/Blood Moon/Total Lunar Eclipse event:
A Supermoon happens when the Full Moon is closest to Earth, making it so close you could almost touch it.
A Blue Moon is when there are two Full Moon’s in a month, the second is referred to as a Blue Moon. This is an extremely rare occurrence and makes this Eclipse particularly significant.
A Blood Moon occurs when a Total Eclipse gives the Moon a reddish glow. Blood Moon’s are quite rare, and we haven’t had one since 2015.
An Eclipse occurs when either the new or full moon occurs close to the nodal axis. A Solar Eclipse occurs when the passage of the Moon through a node coincides with the new moon, while a Lunar Eclipse occurs when the passage coincides with the full moon.
The lunar nodes are the orbital nodes of the Moon, that is, the two points at which the orbit of the Moon crosses the ecliptic (the circular path on the celestial sphere that the Sun appears to follow over the course of a year).
The ascending (or north) node is where the Moon moves into the northern ecliptic hemisphere, while the descending (or south) node is where the Moon enters the southern ecliptic hemisphere.
The Lunar Nodes are key points of soul-centered astrology as they tell a story of where your soul has been and where it is going in this life. Along with Pluto, they hold the key to discovering your soul purpose.
In ancient texts, the descending node (South Node/SN) is referred to as the dragon's tail and the ascending node (North Node/NN) is referred to as the dragon's head.
The South Node (dragon's tail) is sweeping up our past life into this one. This correlates to your natural talents, affinities, gifts, as well as feelings, behaviors, and struggles that you bring with you into this life. Think of it as karmic debris that needs to be swept away as you evolve towards your North Node.
The North Node (dragon's head) is where you are going in this life. It describes your soul’s purpose and evolutionary potential. It represents the potential to bring forth the true essence within, and can only do so when you are aware of your SN influence.
Astrology is all about polarities. The nodal axis works to balance out these polarities during your lifetime. Currently, the LEO/AQUARIUS axis is being worked through via a series of eclipses (spanning from August 2017 until January 2019). We will all feel this in different areas of our lives depending on what houses in your chart are activated during each cosmic event. Think back to August 2017 and what themes were emerging in your life?During this eclipse time, the Moon and Sun are conjunct the nodal axis and thus is a time of deep reflection, release, and initiation. There is an intense urge for liberation to move past our karmic SN wounds and move towards the NN soul purpose. Many of you may be asking, what is that purpose and how do I get started along my path? Those answers are within you and can be seen by examining your birth chart in depth.
It’s time to go within yourSELF and listen to your soul. Your soul is always speaking to you, it is your job to pay attention. During this Full Moon Eclipse, your emotional body (Moon) is conjunct your NN (soul purpose) and what comes up is what you must follow. You might be coming back to past experiences and relationships (Venus conjunct SN) but those are coming to light (Sun conjunct SN) in order to show you what is no longer working for you and what you must release in order to begin your soul’s journey. They are asking you to become more self-aware and to understand your role in the community in which you surround yourself (SN in Aquarius). How do you express yourself? Are you speaking your truth or are you letting past experiences dictate your life? Are you projecting old hurts or buried emotions into current relationships? What is coming to light is asking to be released. It is saying, hey I am still here and you need to see me so you can become aware of the power I have over you!
NN in Leo is asking you to stand in your truth so you may contribute to your community/relationships in a positive way without overpowering others or overcomplicating your life. No need to be dramatic (Leo) and project your struggles onto others (SN in Aquarius), but rather learn to communicate your emotions effectively and from a place of love and understanding.
To move forward along your NN path, you must resolve the SN influences. Now is the time to eclipse those out of your life and move forward along a purposeful path. Remember, timing is everything and you will always end up where you are intended. What path you take to get there depends on how in tune with the language of your soul.

"The moon does not fight. It attacks no one. It does not worry. It does not try to crush others. It keeps to its course, but by its very nature, it gently influences. What other body could pull an entire ocean from shore to shore? The moon is faithful to its nature and its power is never diminished." -Ming-Dao Deng, Everyday Tao: Living with Balance and Harmony

New Moons are all about new beginnings. The New Moon represents the start of a new lunar cycle and occurs approximately every 29 days. When there is a new moon, the Earth, Moon, and the Sun are positioned in a line. We can’t see a new moon in the sky because during this time, the Moon sits between the Earth and the Sun, with the sun shining on the side of the moon that we cannot see. This is the time to direct our thoughts and emotions towards what our soul craves.
New Moon in Capricorn 26 degrees on January 16th @ 9:17PM EST: This New Moon is deeply rooted in reality as six planets, the Moon, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto, are all in earthy Capricorn. Utilize this grounding energy from Capricorn to form foundations and focused intentions in your world. Look to the areas in your birth chart that contain these planets to fine tune your focus. You can pull a quick birth chart for free on astro.com or book a session with me to dive deeper into interpretation.
Be ambitious and design goals that far exceed your expectations and know that you have the ability to achieve them. Renew the commitment to yourself and your intentions. Release any limiting beliefs and shoot for the “New” Moon!
Think of this time as a resolution revolution!
Planetary Aspects during this New Moon:
Exact Conjunction between the Sun and the Moon in Capricorn- The Sun brings emotions (Moon) to the surface in order to achieve balance and to bring about a new perspective to your personal and professional goals. This conjunction in Capricorn creates structured energy to further define your ambitions and to give you confidence in achieving them.
Moon conjunct Pluto in Capricorn: This represents a time of emotional intensity (Moon), typically tied to something from the past (Pluto). Don’t let these emotions overwhelm you. Instead, use this energy to push you towards your new goals/intentions. Your intuition will be heightened during this time, so follow that!
Moon conjunct Venus in Capricorn: This aspect creates warm and friendly energy to help bring peace and harmony to your life. It can increase your artistic or creative expression (Venus) in a very structured Capricorn way. This is a time to be social and open to new social circles and experiences. Because Saturn (Capricorn’s ruler) is involved, don't overindulge in any one thing.
Saturn conjunct Mercury: This aspect brings focused energy (Saturn) into the unconscious mind (Mercury), which means increased critical thinking, organization, concentration, and directness of speech. Watch out for going too deep into the mind or for negative thought patterns. The key is to stay positive and apply this energy to achieving your tasks, goals, etc.
Moon square Uranus: This aspect can bring about sudden unpredictable (Uranus) emotional moods (Moon). This is due to the need for extra stimulation and excitement for the new! No old routines here. Harness this energy to pursue new goals and endeavors, that are practical of course (Hello, Capricorn).
We can harness the energy of the New Moon to manifest our intentions and make our desires come true by creating a New Moon ritual aligned with the planetary energies mentioned above.
Start with a yoga sequence to calm the mind and prepare the body for your ritual.
New Moon in Capricorn Yoga Sequence: Time to use all this earthy grounding energy to build our foundations and open our hearts. This sequence is meant for all levels and feel free to modify according to your body’s needs. Listen to your body and do what feels best for you. Crystals for this New Moon in Capricorn: I recommend carrying with you these or placing them around your home.
Fluorite- is a “psychic vacuum cleaner” as it aids in clearing your environment and mind from cluttered thoughts and negative energy. This will allow you to maintain focus and positivity when setting your New Moon intentions.
Garnet (Grossular)- is an excellent natural grounder of abundant manifestation. This makes a great tool for bringing your vision into reality. It helps create an eager confidence, a motivation to get down to business and make things happen.
Malachite- is one of the most important stones for protection from negative energies. It is also a powerful ally for those who are trapped in waiting for their reality to change. It can assist you in perceiving the cracks in the walls that blocks your progress, so you can utilize your will to break through limitations, barriers, and apathy. It stimulates your passion for life and creating.
Onyx- is a stone stone of inner strength. It enhances your endurance and persistence, enabling you to carry out even difficult tasks through to completion. It also increases your ability to maintain focus, control, and direct your will to bring about a considerable increase in your personal power.
Your New Moon in Capricorn ritual:
Create a sacred space. Find a quiet place to sit, declutter and clean, place your crystals around you in whatever pattern feels good to you.
Clear yourself, your crystals, and your space using sage or palo santo.
Start off by saying the following affirmation out loud: “I harness this New Moon in Capricorn energy to develop heart-centered and focused intentions to manifest the best year ever!”
Take a few deep breaths, center yourself and then begin to write on a piece of paper what you wish to manifest in your life. Write down your focused desires and intentions.
When you have finished your list, sign and date the page.
Read your intentions out loud. With each intention that you speak, start with “I intend to..” and end your sentence saying "This or more".
Sit in silence for a moment. You may want to journal as you sit, allowing inspiration to spark.
Then place your intentions somewhere where you can access them to read when you need a reminder! I like to place them under my crystals on my nightstand to read every morning when I wake up.
Happy Manifesting :)

As social media outlets are filled with the inspiring words of Oprah, I can't help but wonder what her birth chart reveals. What is Oprah's soul signature and how is it expressed in her current situation? Was she destined to shine and inspire?
What exactly do I look for when interpreting someone’s soul signature? One of the main areas I study is the karmic axis, which includes Pluto, the Lunar Nodes, plus their rulers and planetary aspects that interact with these points. The combined elements of the karmic axis tell the story of your past-life history and current life intentions for healing and evolution. It tells the story of where your soul has been, your current life purpose, and ultimately where your soul is going.
When looking at Oprah’s birth chart, there are many elements that stand out as to her karmic axis and the role she plays in society. All of which she was destined for. We still have free will that dictate our choices, but ultimately, we have a soul purpose to carry out. Your choices might take you on various routes, but they all lead to one evolutionary path.
Oprah’s Karmic Axis:
Pluto 8th house in Leo- A natural born leader with powerful intuition and intense healing energy. Bringing to light what is hidden and taboo. Through her own life experiences, she understands the need to put her unique voice to the deep transformative process of soul's evolution in order to change the lives of others. Super Soul Sunday anyone?!
Pluto Polarity Point is Aquarius in the 2nd House- Emphasizes the need to become impersonal to money/material possessions and actually make money by helping others realize their dreams.
South Node in Cancer 7th House- Previous lifetimes emphasized the domestic setting and dependency in relationships (specifically related to family/motherhood). In this life, there may be this desire “to be taken care of” or “to take care of” which could lead to an unending search for security in others. There may also be relationships that propel her to accomplish her soul’s evolution through the North Node, intended growth and new future.
North Node Capricorn 1st House- Ambition and achievement which manifests when she learns to trust her intuition, love herself, and speak her truth. The need is for her to take charge of her life, set goals, and live by these. Once she does, she will receive the recognition and security she desires. She is meant to lead without fear and with independent thought and action.
Neptune (R) in Libra 10th House Square Nodal Axis- Times in which she has been disillusioned regarding her career path, especially when this path lacks ties to endeavors such as spirituality, the planet, or overall bettering society. Typically felt when she does not follow her intuitive guidance.
Uranus conjunct South Node in 7th House- Intense karmic relationships that seem to come out of the blue in order to push her towards her soul growth and evolution. Also indicates a desire for relationships that go outside the norms of society aka unconventional relationships.
As you can see in Oprah’s soul signature, she was destined to be a public figure, a leader of consciousness, and to help others along their evolutionary path by speaking their truth. Through her current life experiences, she has grown into an amazing soulful leader who continues to inspire us all, including myself!
